Martin Jarrie

Martin Jarrie’s deep voice welcomes and cocoons you, as do his profound, sensitive paintings. His universe, with its dense, intense colours, its layers built up like the stages of a picture being formed, make the image more beautiful and precise as it unfolds.

Painter and illustrator, Martin Jarrie lives and works in Paris since 1981. After using a documentary drawing style, sometimes even hyperrealist, he changed for a more free expression, more pictorial, influenced by surrealism, Italian primitives, art brut and contemporary art. He works for the press, publishing and advertising in France and the USA (Télérama, Le Monde, Libération, Le Nouvel Observateur, La Vie, NewYorker, New York Times and Bloomberg Magazine in particular). In advertising, Martin Jarrie has worked for BNP bank, La Poste, Cetelem, Scholtès, Heidsieck, Ile de France  Council etc. His illustrations have been awarded numerous prices from the Communication Arts and Society of Illustrators. He was awarded in 1997 the Grand Prize by the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava.
